How to book at Les Grands Buffets in Narbonne

Updated · Official information checked on

Everything happens online, on the restaurant’s site, and payment comes in two stages. Here is the full procedure and what it commits you to, before you start.

How do you book at Les Grands Buffets in Narbonne?

Booking is done exclusively online, from a personal account that every new customer must create on the restaurant’s site. You choose the date of the meal, the sitting and the number of guests, then receive a confirmation by email a few minutes later. Booking by phone is not possible.

The steps

  1. Create your personal account on the restaurant’s customer area. It is a mandatory first step for every new customer, and doing it in advance saves precious minutes the day a table appears.
  2. Choose the date, the sitting and the number of guests on the booking site.
  3. Choose between cancellation cover and a deposit, if you are booking at least 37 days before the meal.
  4. Wait for the email confirmation, sent a few minutes later.
  5. Pay for the menus from your account, between 60 and 30 days before the meal.

How far in advance should you book at Les Grands Buffets?

As early as you can for a date you have chosen, and up to the day before for a seat that frees up. The restaurant announces no booking opening date and no release in waves: online booking is open continuously, and it is the payment deadlines that set the rhythm of returning seats, 29 and 11 days before the meal.

Our own readings measure that second delay. Over the last 30 days, 49 seats became bookable again on the slots we watch, a median of 2 days before the meal, and each stayed available for 2h 10 before the slot was full again. The full readings are here.

How much does a meal at Les Grands Buffets cost?

The “all-you-can-eat gourmet buffets” menu is €65.90 per person, one price for the whole table whatever the guests’ ages. The price applied is the one in force on the date of the meal, not on the date of booking. Drinks are not included.

For a table of four the meal therefore comes to €263.60, plus drinks. The restaurant notes that it does not encourage coming with very young children, the length of the meal being ill-suited to it.

What are the opening times at Les Grands Buffets?

The restaurant is open 365 days a year. Guests are seated from 12:00 to 13:45 for lunch, and from 19:15 to 21:15 for dinner. A meal lasts about three hours.

The buffets close progressively at the end of service: starters, then the rotisserie and hot dishes, then cheeses and desserts. Arriving at the start of the seating window leaves time to go round.

Do you have to pay when you book?

Yes, in part. When you book, if it is at least 37 days before the meal, you choose between cancellation cover at €5 per person or a deposit of €20 per person. Paying for the menus in full comes afterwards: it can be settled from 60 days before the meal and must be done no later than 30 days before.

The two options do not mean the same thing. Cancellation cover at €5 per person lets you cancel free of charge until 11 days before the meal; it is non-refundable and is not deducted from the price of the meal, since it stays with the restaurant in every case. A deposit of €20 per person comes off the price of the menus, but is not refunded if you cancel.

At 37 days or less from the date of the meal, cancellation cover is no longer offered: only the deposit remains possible.

What happens if you do not prepay the menus?

The booking is cancelled in full and automatically. The cancellation cover or deposit already paid then stays with the restaurant as compensation. It is this mechanism that produces the wave of cancellations seen 29 days before every date.

This is also what explains how a restaurant booked solid for months regularly finds tables again: some of the bookings made very far ahead never go through. The full cancellation calendar is set out here.

How do you change or cancel a booking?

Changes and cancellation are made from your personal account on the restaurant’s site. The applicable terms and charges are set out in the General Conditions attached to your booking, viewable from that same account.

Why is it so hard to book at Les Grands Buffets?

Because demand far exceeds the capacity of the dining room: an all-you-can-eat buffet of this scale at a single price draws far more people than the restaurant can seat, and slots go as soon as they open, often months in advance.

The good news is that this lead time cuts both ways. Booking six months earlier commits you to little at the time — a few euros of cover — and some of those bookings never come to anything. Seats therefore return to circulation, regularly and fairly predictably.

If no date suits you

There is no waiting list at Les Grands Buffets: a released table goes straight back into bookable stock, with nobody being told. The only two options are therefore to check the site very regularly, or to have availability watched in your place.

Depending on your situation, what comes next is here:

GetTable watches for you. The service checks availability continuously and sends you a text message as soon as a table matches your criteria. It does not book on your behalf: you do the booking, on the official site, with your account. One-off payment, no subscription, refunded in full if no alert was sent to you before your date.
