Les Grands Buffets is fully booked: can you still get a table?

Yes, more often than not. “Fully booked” describes the state of reservations at the second you look, not the week ahead. Cancellations happen every day right up to the eve of the meal, and every released table is put straight back up for booking on the restaurant’s site.

In other words: the grey calendar in front of you is not final. It may well be for the exact date you were after, but rarely for the whole week, and almost never for the month.

What should you do when every date shows as full?

Four things, in this order: create your account on the restaurant’s site now, widen your date and party-size criteria, work out the date that falls 29 days before the meal you are after, and arrange to be told rather than refreshing the page.

  1. Create your account right now.

Booking is done only from a personal account on the restaurant’s site, and creating one takes a few minutes. Doing it now, while nothing is available, saves you doing it in a rush the moment a table appears. That is exactly where seats are lost.

  2. Widen whatever can be widened.

A table for 2 frees up far more often than a table for 8. Lunch is less contested than dinner. And accepting three dates rather than one mechanically multiplies your chances. If your meal is not tied to a fixed date, this is the most effective lever you have.

  3. Work out the date that falls 29 days before.

That is the day bookings left unpaid are cancelled automatically, and by far the moment when the most tables drop back at once. The full cancellation calendar is set out here.

  4. Get told, rather than watching.

This is the point that decides the rest, and it deserves saying plainly: refreshing the booking page three times a day is not enough. Released seats reappear at any hour, including at night, and some of the ones we have observed lasted only a few minutes.

Be told when a table frees up. GetTable checks availability continuously, day and night, and sends you a text message as soon as a slot matches your criteria. The service does not book on your behalf: you book yourself, on the official site, with your account. One-off payment, no subscription, and a full refund if no alert was sent to you before your date.

Start a watch

What the service watches at this restaurant in particular — dates, sittings, party sizes — is set out on its page: watching availability at Les Grands Buffets, with the plans, the limits and the questions most often asked.

Why a full date can become available again

The restaurant asks for menus to be paid in full between 60 and 30 days before the meal. Bookings not settled within that window are cancelled automatically: every seat blocked months earlier by customers who never followed through becomes bookable again at once.

A second deadline plays the same role eleven days before the meal: it is the last date to cancel and get the prepayment back, and many customers wait for it. Between those two moments, and up to the eve, isolated drop-outs land every day.

How long do you have to wait for a table to free up?

It depends mostly on how far off the meal is. More than a month out, the big 29-day wave has not happened yet and most of it is still to come. Inside two weeks, releases are rarer but they do happen, right up to the eve. No delay can be promised: there is no queue, only opportunities.

We publish what our own readings show (number of slots followed, pace of checks, openings recorded), with their limits and their date: see the observed availability.

Can you just turn up without a booking?

The restaurant says you can turn up on the day to try to take advantage of a cancellation or a no-show, with no guarantee whatsoever. That means being able to travel to Narbonne and possibly leave without having eaten.

Does phoning the restaurant unlock a full date?

No. Booking is done exclusively online, from a personal account, and there is no waiting list you can be added to by phone. A call gives you access to no seat the site is not already showing.

There is, moreover, no waiting list at Les Grands Buffets: a cancelled table is offered to nobody in particular, it simply returns to the public calendar.
