iOS 27 watches web pages, and none of the twelve restaurants we follow can be watched that way

Since iOS 27, Safari can watch a web page and tell you when it changes. On 18 September 2026 we queried the five booking systems that serve the twelve restaurants we follow: on none of them does the address return a page whose content varies with the free tables.

What the feature does, and what it is built for

Apple released iOS 27 on 14 September 2026. Safari gains a "Notify me" option: you open a page, describe the change you are waiting for, and the system goes and looks for you. Apple's French page presents it as a way for Safari to watch your pages and alert you when a price drops or a product is back in stock.

The frequency is chosen when you set up the watch, between hourly, daily, weekly and monthly. MacRumors, which listed the Safari changes in this release, states that hourly is the limit. The feature also requires an iPhone compatible with Apple Intelligence, meaning an iPhone 15 Pro, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, or a model 16 or later.

The use case is in Apple's own wording: a price, a stock level. That information lives on a public page, at a stable address, and the document changes when the thing changes. A table at a restaurant in high demand does not come in that form, and this holds for all five systems we follow.

Five booking modules, no page to watch

Here is what each address returns to whoever requests it, without running the page's code. You can check it yourself in a browser by viewing the source.

• Les Grands Buffets, in-house module: 839 bytes, an empty container and a notice asking you to enable JavaScript. The document also carries a "noindex" instruction.
• Septime, Zenchef module: an empty container as well, and not a single character of readable text.
• Le Jules Verne, GuestOnline module: some text this time, but no times and no dates. The page served opens with a warning about Internet Explorer 7.
• Mirazur, CoverManager module: the restaurant's booking page, where the words "available" and "full" do not appear once.
• The eight Disneyland Paris restaurants: the booking address does not lead to booking. It redirects to a virtual waiting room, hosted on another domain, which places the visitor in a queue.

One thing they share matters more than the detail of each. None of these systems puts the date, the sitting or the number of guests in the address. So there is no address anywhere matching "24 December, dinner, four guests" that you could hand to a watch and that would start to differ the day a table frees up. Availability appears inside the module, after these choices, and often only once you are logged in to an account.

A page watch compares what an address returns with what it returned the day before. On these five systems, it would compare the same document with itself.

For the starred tables, the opening time decides everything

The three starred restaurants we follow open their bookings on a fixed day at a fixed time. We recorded these rules in their official modules on 6 September 2026. Le Jules Verne opens its calendar 90 days before the date. Septime opens 21 days before, at 10:00. Mirazur opens on the first Monday of the month at 9:00, for four months later.

Against an opening at exactly 10:00, an hourly check arrives somewhere in the following hour. It can therefore come at 10:59 on a calendar that opened at 10:00. For these three restaurants, the gap between the opening and the first look outweighs everything else.

At Les Grands Buffets, how long freed seats last

Our observatory measures Les Grands Buffets, and only them. The Disney restaurants and the starred tables are watched, but their figures are not published yet. Over the last thirty days, 49 seats became bookable again on the slots we follow in Narbonne, and half of them stayed available for less than 130 minutes.

With durations like these, the daily, weekly and monthly frequencies are of no use. That leaves hourly, the feature's limit, which would spend its single check of the hour on a document that does not move.

The feature remains well suited to what Apple describes. A price, a sold-out item, a ticket office whose page announces its own opening: the page exists, it is public, it changes, and one check an hour is enough. The obstacle lies in the way these twelve restaurants take bookings, not in the quality of the tool.

What remains to be done for a date that matters

Seats come back on known deadlines. At Les Grands Buffets, bookings that have not been prepaid are cancelled 29 days before the meal, and the last deadline for a prepayment refund frees a second batch 11 days before: the steps are set out in our guide to booking at Les Grands Buffets. In all three cases, availability can only be read inside the module, by entering the date, the sitting and the number of guests each time. That route has to be repeated every time.
